As you may have already noticed, a large amount of the content on IceCaves.net is member generated. Some of this content has an attached "Promoted" icon while others do not. What's the difference?
Promoted vs. Non-promoted
By default all of your submitted content is non-promoted: there is no "Promoted" icon when viewing your content. The status for "Promoted" content can only be received from a staff member. Content that receives this status has the icon displayed below.
Promoted content is something that raises the bar for the content of that category. For example, anybody can submit a stock photo or a color scheme, but can you submit something that aims to better than what anyone else has submitted to IC? Promoted content is our way of motivating our users to constantly work to outdo their own best work with an added touch of competition with other members.
Rank Points
If you submit content that doesn't receive the promoted status, you get zero rank points. However, if you receive promoted status, then you will get seven rank points per promoted content. This is the highest amount of rank points you can win for a single action. (Read more about Rank Points)
