After a lot of #hype, the new IC is here at last! The idea of a new IC began almost a year ago when I started a new forum board in the old IC called "Rebuilding IC." In the forum, the community discussed possible ideas for improving the site as well as critically looking at the site looking for weaknesses. After a large period of inactiveness due to university, I began a month ago to start working on the IC you see today.
Today marks the first step in the new IC. It's Day 1. With each new day, I plan on coming out with a new update for the new IC. What? IceCaves updating every day? It's not (entirely) absurd. Well, for one the IceCaves of right now is extrutiatingly basic. Yes, that's a good thing, a great thing that the old IC didn't have, but there is still work to be done before I can rest easy. In the upcoming days expects updates on bringing back some old content, further polishing the new IC, and even announcing some new features that will characterize the new IC from the old one. I'm excited to begin and you all should be too.
I would also like to talk about something the is missing from the new IC. I have decided to close affiliation and the Topsites. All past affiliates and Topsites members are free to remove their links to IceCaves if they wish to. (You don't have to you know. :P ) IceCaves was very fortunate to have such an amazing group of affiliates and Topsites members throughout the last few years. We had hundreds of sites come and go in our Topsites and dozens of affiliates. So why did we decide to get rid of these features? I mean, we are a community of webmasters, right? Well, that's exactly why. I felt that the systems of affiliation and the Topsites didn't give that title of "webmaster community" enough justice. Instead, in the coming days I will be working on an improved affiliation system that I'm sure many of you will be interested in. I'll leave more details to a future update.
Like I said before, this is only Day 1 of the new IC. With each new day, we will be releasing new things and new ideas. It's going to be a fun summer (or winter for those down under) for all of us. So if you haven't already, create an account and join the community. Even though we're starting from scratch, IC will be going farther than it ever has before. Let's go.

You're a wily one. When I first read "every day", I was going to go with the loose interpretation of "every day" as "a couple times a week". Then I realized that you'd not released everything in one go to save significant updates for future every day updates. Ahhh, sneaky, sneaky.
It's so refreshingly different and I cannot wait for everything else to be unveiled. But I should probably refrain from staying up so late. Makes me irritable in the morning..:P

It will be sad to see the affiliates go, but ho-hum. The layout is very sexy. I can't wait to see all the new stuff that will come. Can't wait.

Woohoo! I disappear for three days, and I come back to find the new IC is up! I should disappear more often! haha :) I love the changes :) I can't wait to see everything else that you've got planned. It's sad to say goodbye to the topsites.. :( But oh well!

I was actually quite shocked by the simplicity of the layout. It's a new Haily. XP (Also, now that I think about it, are all of the smilies going to be gone? :( Haha, it's a bit funny that this is the first thing I think of...) Awesome job for getting this out so quickly! I'm looking at the Text Formats page, and it looks very organized. ;) Great job all around!

The new IC just had to arrive when I'm on holiday, eh? Typical. I can at least tell you that I like the mobile site, even if trying to sign up again on my phone was a bit of a mission. Once I manage to get a signal that's a little more reliable I'll check it out properly. And when I get home in a couple of weeks I'm sure that seeing the proper site will be a priority(I don't like unpacking much). :P

Hullo IceCaves ;) I'm back from Germany. Bummed that I missed the logo contest, would have loved to enter but there's nothing I can do about that now, congrats to Anna for winning.
New IC is so bare. It's a bit of a shock to the system. And it opened on my birthday, which means it now shares a birthday with myself and my site. Good job, Haily. Win.
Need to go watch Glee for several hours to keep myself awake until acceptable sleeping time. Am very jetlagged. Will be back tomorrow to look around more (and, of course, eagerly await the daily updates)

haha you're right, it's a new me. I'm not used to these types of layouts. I'll keep tweaking it however polishing it. It'll get better with time. :P
