I've long given up on browser compatibility for Internet Explorer; I simply refuse to cater for that old cantankerous beast of a browser. However, although most of the time IE does horrific job of rendering/mutiliating the CSS, usually the layout is still basically usable despite its extreme deformities. This time, IE has done itself and everything it represents an incredible disservice.
You can post your own IE fails here too if you want.

I just read the title as "The IC Hate Club." Anyway, I have no screenshots but I once had something work correctly in IE and not in FF, Chrome, etc.
Yeah, I thought it said, "IC Hate Club" too. I used to use IE, so I'd say my coding works in that browser too for the most part.
Yay, Anna!

Haha.. i'd have screenshots to take, IF i had IE.. I refuse to download (or use) that dinosaur of a program!

I got IE 6 working on another computer so here's some screenshots of some web pages.
Remember: png-24 is not supported in IE 6.
Apparently I can only add 5 images to each post so here's the other screenshots:
IC Hate Club? I'd never!
Windymill's layout is a huge WIN on IE. I've never seen anything so artistic and intellectually challenging...
It's nice to know I'm not the only one completely ignoring IE when browser testing. Even GMail's new theme isn't IE friendly! For clients, I usually create an entire separate CSS stylesheet to feed to the IE monster which completely changes the way most of the layout works. Which is a hassle that really isn't worth it.

O_O wow. our layouts.. including IC's look AWFUL in IE!!!
why must IE be so awful and try to mess everything up...?

Good thing IE has since upgraded a bit...AnnaNeo works fine in the most recent version of IE. :) So do EMN, Windymill, and IC.
Yay, Anna!
AnnaNeo
The most recent version of IE does CSS3? Because if not, then nothing I design looks alright in IE. I browsed Windymill on IE on a school computer once (no idea what version) and Windymill looked downright atrocious.

yay! EMN looks fine :P lol
But i'm not sure about the rest of my sites... which I really need to find time to update! grr!
The good thing is that "most" people who visit our sites are bloggers/website developers, who understand that IE is evil... so hopefully not too much of a problem there :P

Did you hear Microsoft is doing away with IE6? They'll be updating IE on people's computers to the latest version without any permission or knowledge of the user. It's a drastic measure, but one that should be celebrated.
I used to use IE, back when the only alternative was safari (which at that time was Mac only), AOL, or Netscape.
I'm a jack of all trades in training.
Also, Internet Explorer is no longer available for Apple OS's. Aaaaahahaha.
I'm a jack of all trades in training.
My sister got a new Windows laptop a couple months back and it came with Google Chrome ready installed....oh dear. And I was going to be proud of her for following in my footsteps...darn!

It's cool that it came with Chrome installed though. Mine just came with IE. :P

My parents have gotten two Sony Vaios recently and they all came with Chrome installed. My mom switched over, but my dad still prefers Firefox. :(
My computer came with IE and I only used it to download Chrome and Firefox.
Haha, Thomas. :P I don't like the new IE...I think it's getting progressively uglier.
Yay, Anna!

IE9 is not as bad as IE6-IE8 when designing and apparently it's more secure than Chrome in terms of blocking malware but IE makes all pages (textareas, etc.) look ugly.
Honestly, the address bar and tabs looked a lot better to me in IE 8 than they do now. Maybe that's just me.
Yay, Anna!

I dunno, I hate IE a lot, but if you're going to be some degree of a professional web designer you need to make your work compatible, 'cause there are tons of people who use it. Thankfully that number has been declining significantly.
I had to recode my school district's website (still not done) and it had to be all IE friendly. I kind of had to accept that some stuff would look stupid, but I was able to get it to work pretty well with just some CSS conditionals.
I haven't used IE in quite a few years actually! The only time I can think of was when i was at an internet cafe, and that was the only option... So I can't really make any comments on the crappy design :P

I can make it IE friendly. I just choose not to. I do for commissions though. Although it strangles my soul a little bit inside...
My school uses IE and doesn't allow us to download things onto the school computers. Sometimes I just shake my head at the IT department.

Don't you have a flash drive you can put a browser on? My school computers are Apple, so they have Safari, and they already installed FireFox on them... smart school.
My school computers are all windows xp and the default browser is IE 8. Last September they finally updated all the computers from IE 6 to IE 8. They also have Firefox and Google Chrome and I guess we can install our own stuff on the computers (nothing says you can't) but all changes you make to the local drive are reverted when you log out of your account.
I actually didn't know people used IE.
I know they use it at my school, but whenever I log on a school computer, it's like WELCOME TO THE BOTNET because of all 12 bits a second that it loads.

Wow, my school is seeming pretty high-tech now. They have Macs and PCs, Apple and Windows Vista with Firefox and Chrome on most of them. You can download whatever, though whatever you download is monitored/tracked (I'm not sure how exactly, but supposedly the tech people can see the screen of any computer on the school network).
Yay, Anna!

It's surprising; most of the people who visit my website use Chrome or IE, with Firefox coming in third. Really, I didn't know anyone except for Grandma still uses IE.
Oh yeah, what I use and what I suggest is Iron:
http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php
It's a much more secure Google Chrome clone and doesn't send your search results/browser history to Google.
I suggest for an actual search engine:
https://ixquick.com/
for the same reasons I suggest Iron.
and Anna..
Remote desktop. Yeh, I have a class this year where we use the computer labs almsot daily (well, this semester) and I'm going to take Tor on a flashdrive the last day of school and just see how well I can get past the censors.
No really, neopets.com is blocked. It's content filtering at it's worst. School internet is a joke, and their security is too; my school has 18 ports open that they aren't using and have no password what so ever.
but the remote desktop seeing your computer screen.. eh.. I mean, if you use WiFi (which most of you probably do), anyone with SLIGHT technical knowhow (you need to be able to download a few scripts) can hack into it regardless of the security and access your desktop, go through your files, move your cursor, etc etc. Wardriving looks fun, eh.
If you secure your WiFi network through WPE, it'd take me about 20 seconds to use your internet.
WPA (preferably WPA2), it takes a bit more technical knowhow.
Of course, I've never actually done any cracking of WiFi outside of my own router, whcih was just for fun.
I really don't know how I went from discussing how horrible my school is to talking about wardriving. I really can get off topic.

My layout doesn't look too shabby in IE. I ardently despise the browser though.
I've had to install Windows onto my MAC because I needed a software on my laptop for a class, and we only had a Windows version of it... I think that was the first time, in a LONG time that I used IE... I haven't checked my site out using it yet, but definitely will next time i get onto the Windows partition... I must say, IE was really good - for downloading Chrome :P

Ohh, IE... It's like the one kid in class with LOADS and LOADS of allergies and everybody needs to cater especially for it.
