This is a topic for Thom--I mean discussion. <_<
So, what's your guys' favorite foods? What are some unusual foods you like or have tried? I think we need some sort of topics for random stuff like this. You know, get some posts going.
For me, I haven't tried much unique food. Probably the most unique is rattlesnake. It was actually pretty good! We have some around where we live, and one time my friend and I found one, got our cousin who likes to skin them, and later we just threw it on the grill, bones and meat. It wasn't that bad for having no spices. It wasn't that big of a snake, though, so there wasn't that much of a meal on it.
Other than that, I'm pretty plain. Give me a burger or a piece of pizza, and I'll be fine. But of course, nothing can compare to...
SUSHI!

When I was younger, by which I mean about ten, my friends were shocked by things I'd eaten. Things like caviar and calamari and mussels and ostrich, to name four I can still remember. I've always been open to trying anything.
I get told I'm picky a lot, but I don't think I am: there are just a few things that I know I can't stand. Like beetroot(I remember trying borscht in Russia when I was eight, and hating it), and cheese that has fruit in it, and cabbage. That isn't picky, that's just knowing what I dislike.
As for food I really like...well, I'll eat practically anything with mushrooms in it, mushrooms are glorious. And scotch broth, and haggis, because I'm a living stereotype. And I also have a bit of a weakness for deep-fried pizza, though that's something I get from the chippy about once a year just because I can't bear the thought of how unhealthy it is. But it tastes so good. And I really want to try a deep-fried mars bar, just because.
I'll shut up now.
Oh look, some blatant advertising. I should stop this. But you know you want to click this. You do. If you're denying it then you're lying to yourself.
I don't like sushi. I have only ever had it once and I didn't like it. I dunno if it was just because of the person who made it. Anyway, don't usually eat what people call "unusual foods." I usually eat pasta, soup (chicken noodle is the best but I'll eat any kind of soup), pizza (usually cheese but sometimes I get peppers, etc. as toppings), fries, pancakes and hot dogs. That's all I can think of for now. Oh and I don't really like cheese unless it's on pizza.
I love SUSHI! lol. It's one of those foods you can eat when you're not starving, but you're hungry and want a proper meal :) My favorite Sushi Restaurant back home also served Lebanese food (and pizza). it was a strange mix, but they somehow made it work, and the food was always amazing!

I recommend you give sushi at least one more try. When I first tried it, I was indifferent. Then I had it again a while later, and I was hooked. If you don't like it the second time, then that's fine. You're missing out, but it's your opinion.
@Rachel: One thing: Mushrooms are all that great.
@Aashni: Sushi, glorious sushi... but still, sushi and pizza? A match made in heaven, obviously! The only problem with sushi is that no matter how much you stuff yourself, you'll still be starving a couple hours later.. but it is healthy. ;D
It's a good thing dinner is almost done, because I'm hungry after reading Thomas' post...
I probably should try sushi again because the time I tried it was a few years ago in elementary school when we did some cooking thing and I bet the school went cheap on ingredients or something so it tasted bad. Oh and I like rice. Fried rice is alright as well.
A couple things about sushi:
The sushi you had was probably, well, crap, the way you describe it.
The California Roll does not count as sushi.
I should probably mention that when I say "Sushi", I mean vegetarian sushi.. i.e. no fish :P lol.
Another food I LOVE is this indian dish called "Kichi". I have no idea what it's made of, or how to make it.. but it's literally the best thing in the world!

Oh, well then that changes everything. D: That's not sushi.
I don't really like sushi at all. It just seems like an expensive waste. It costs a pretty penny for proper sushi but doesn't really fill you up. Don't get me wrong, it tastes lovely but I'm a bit of a man when it comes to food. I've had snake before, and jellyfish, and shark fin and eels, sheep blood tofu, and million other things. And I loved all of it! haha

In most situations, I'm the pickiest person. I like a lot of foods, but a lot of the things I dislike, everyone else usually likes. I'll give you a short list of some of these: french fries, donuts, red/tomato sauces, apples, cinnamon, any carbonated beverages, and anything spicy. Bleck.
I LOVE cheesy things, chocolaty things, seafood, most meats in general, most fruits, and pastas.
Yay, Anna!

*disowns you for not liking french fries and donuts and carbonated beverages* D:<
Well you never "owned" her in the first place, so you can't possibly disown her!! :P

Wait, who are you talking about?
i HATE... energy drinks. anything bitter.
i like... starfruit, dragonfruit, pineapple, mangoes, coconut, guava, taro...
sushi is great :D usually when i get it though, i order chicken katsu or something, cuz sushi never fills you up unless you buy like $30 worth.
i've had alligator (HATED IT), shark fin soup (HATED IT), red bean gelato (oh god that was bad), and a lot of other stuff.
i don't like a lot of exotic stuff xD
I've been eating McDonalds once a week for half a year, and I've gained only half a pound. o.o
I love pastas (especially pesto pasta with asparagus and artichoke hearts <3 ), fruits, burgers, tacos, and every single carbonated drink. Of course, this isn't my full list of favorite kinds of foods (and trust me, I can go on forever). I can only post that much.

So, here's a great lunch/dinner/meal, and it's fast to make.
Get some ranch, BBQ sauce, plain chicken, favorite cheese, and a tortilla.
Step One
If you have the pre-cooked tortillas, place chicken and cheese on tortilla until desired temperature.
If you have the kind of tortilla that you have to cook, cook regularly, but when you flip to cook the other side, put cheese and chicken on.
Step Two
Apply a fairly small amount of ranch dressing and BBQ sauce.
Step Three
Roll up your tortilla.
Step Four
Eat.
This doesn't sound like something I'd like... I think cheese smells bad. You enjoyed it though, right?
Well, I actually first had it with sourdough bread and avocado... which was even better!
The next day, though, I wanted it again, but we didn't have any more bread or avocados. /cue inventive mode
I don't like avocado either. Maybe it's because my sister spreads the slime on her face or something to apparently help skin...
Wow...I thought they only did that in movies. :P
Yay, Anna!

Nope... people do it in real life.. it's weird O_O
I like having wraps on days where I want something light to eat... Get a wrap, humus, and salad like ingredients - Lettuce, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, and cheese.
Granted, you could put just about anything you want in here... I don't eat meat, but you can easily put some in there.. You could also not put the humus, though it makes it chewy, and nice :)
If you don't put Humus, try toasting the wrap :) though I recommended having cheese in it if you decide to have a toasted wrap :)

Artichokes and tomitilos are some of my favorites, since they grew naturally in Oregon and we had half a acre of garden there, I grew up eating them :P

I don't like artichokes. Does anybody like steak?
Rare and flavor'd right, steak is one of the best foods out there.
if any of you have a panini grill, you can make some pretty good quesadillas
with a panini toaster thing, you can make a LOT of awesome things! like paninis.. or taking a wrap and toasting it :)

For the 40 days of Lent, Christians like to give up something as a sacrifice. My girlfriend and I decided to give up all food that is "unhealthy." Basically we defined unhealthy as fast food, fried foods, soda, desserts, candy, etc. I have to say it's really hard and I realized just what bad eating habits I had before Lent. I never thought I would miss ice cream and chocolate so much. :'(
The annoying part of it is that a lot of things aren't unhealthy if you just eat with restraint, but for Lent that just sounds like cheating, haha.
But the bright side is that I'm trying new foods that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. I wasn't a smoothie person before, but man I was really missing out haha .:P
Ooh.. I've recently converted into being a smoothie person.. Because I live in residence, I find it pretty hard to not eat junk food, since I don't have a kitchen.. or anywhere to cook :( But I'm trying to control that
It's great that you took on such a hard target for lent! A friend of mine decided not to eat any meat for Lent, and he's doing pretty good so far too :)
